Scientists say the hole in the ozone layer is bigger than ever

Tools

By Angela Berry

Nasa released new images showing the antarctic ozone hole.
Scientists say colder weather this year has caused the hole to reach a record size of 11.4 million square miles.

The ozone depletion could bring dangerous levels of ultra violet rays to the southern hemisphere.

Some scientists say that while atmospheric temperatures change the size of the ozone hole, it was primarily caused by human-produced chemicals.
