NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) - A new environmental report says the United States could do more to protect against climate change -- a lot more.

The Climate Action Network-Europe study ranks the United States among the countries doing the least to stop emissions of greenhouse gases. The only countries worse were China, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia.

The report found Sweden, Britain and Denmark were doing the most to protect against climate change. But the study found that even those efforts could be improved.

The index ranks 56 countries that were part of a 1992 climate treaty or that contribute at least one percent of greenhouse gas emissions in the world. The United States ranked 53 out of 56.

A spokesman for the environmental group says there are no winners in the study, just countries that rank better compared to the others.
