Yu Darvish overcame a rough start to win his first start in the major leagues.

Darvish and Rangers beat the Mariners Monday night in Arlington, 11-5.

Darvish gave up four runs in the first inning. 

He threw 42 pitches in that first frame.

He gave up another run in the second.

But then he settled down.

Darvish went a total of 5.2 innings.

He gave up five earned runs, had five strikeouts, four walks, and eight hits.

Darvish threw 110 pitches, 59 were strikes.

The Rangers hammered Seattle pitchers for four homers.

80 members of the media travelled from Japan to the Ballpark for Darvish's first big league game.
