I respect the views of people who feel there should be a separation between religion and politics. However, the same standards by which we live our lives must be the same by which we vote. Ultimately, religion and politics are joined in the individual; even if in a rejection of religion. I have a charge to speak the truth in love to my congregation and that includes to speak against or for issues that we decide to either embrace or reject. So, for those of you who want separation of church and state, then stay out of my pulpit. You desire of this "separation" is only for your desires and you seem most willing for the state to tell me what I can and cannot preach. Where is the separation there? There is a power higher and I must obey HIM.
