When your young and your driving habits are hardly engrained, change is not hard to learn, but when you've been doing things the same way for fifty years, change is harder to learn. The flashing solid yellow is what has been in use for over fifty years. These newer "arrow" lights should be taken-down and replaced with the established flashing solid yellow. The "new" light is a gimmick, not well thought-out, and is used to sell traffic lights to cities where traffic commissioners get a kick-back
