Americans, by nature are moderate people and extremists make them nervous.
No rational person can think of any policy of the Obama administration that justified the overheated ravings of Republicans and led them to the conclusion that no matter how disappointing Obama's first term, he was still a better choice than the putting a right wing fanatic in the White House.
