I remember when Ronald Reagan let the government shut-down. The first closures were those which served the public such as the National Parks rangers, Air traffic controllers, you get the idea. It was our punishment for wanting to cut spending. Media did it's part to advertise on nightly news all those who were devasted with failed vacation plans, oh the pain and misery. Meanwhile the affirmative hires kept their makework jobs showing all taxpayers that for the government it was business as usual
