Obama’s Texas donations strongly up in May — but Romney still tops him

Texans dug deeper into their wallets for President Barack Obama’s campaign in May than any other month this year.
The president cashed $816,625 from donors in Texas and raised a total of $39.1 million last month, according to monthly reports filed Wednesday with the Federal Election Commission.
But Obama’s campaign coffers quickly ate up the Texan funds — and more — outpacing fundraising with $44.6 million in spending. Obama for America has not spent more than it has made since January, when the campaign coughed up $17.6 million in costs after raking in just $11.9 million.
