Michael Phelps hopes to recapture the drive that won him eight gold medals in 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Phelps participated earlier this month at the Ultra Swim Meet in Charlotte, North Carolina; However, Phelps did not capture any races during the event.

His coach, Bob Bowman hopes to intensify training in preparation for the swim trials at the end of this month.
Phelps commented on what it means to represent the U.S. in the Olympics, “Its something that fires me up more than anything. To have the opportunity to wear the stars and stripes and go out and represent your country is one of the most amazing things I’ve ever been able to do”.

The 2012 U.S. Olympic team swim trials begin June 25 in Omaha, Nebraska.
