OVERTON — An Overton ninth-grade math teacher has been placed on paid administrative leave after a freshman student said the teacher threw a mechanical pencil at him.

Overton Police Department Cpt. Clayton Taylor said a 15-year-old and his parents went to the police station Wednesday to file assault charges against the teacher.
