CALIFORNIA – Voters in California have approved a constitutional amendment that outlawed same-sex marriage.
This vote overturned a California Supreme Court decision that gave same-sex couples the right to wed earlier this year.
Some say the passage of Proposition 8 was a big political defeat for gay-rights activists.
Now the thousands of same-sex couples who wed earlier this year will have to let the court decide if their unions are valid.
