Tyler, TX (KETK) — Exit 353 is now open on Interstate 20, connecting drivers to Toll 49.
At 6:00 p.m. Thursday, the barrels and barricades were moved out of the way, allowing traffic to access a new to and from Tyler.
Roadway officials tell KETK, they believe this will alleviate traffic problems in town, and will give commuters easier access to the interstate.
Officials tell KETK is was a project that slated to take six year, but was finished in just less than two.
CH2M Hill, the engineering company running the project, has tentatively set a date and time for Segment 3B, connecting Toll 49 to Interstate 20, to open.
At around 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, CH2M Hill says they will remove barricades on 49 to allow traffic to flow making the connection to I-20 available.
CH2M Hill will move the barriers from north to south first, then remove them from east to west.
