WASHINGTON,D.C. - The House has approved an $819 billion dollar economic stimulus package critical to President Barack Obama's plan to revive the economy.
Many Republicans including East Texas Congressman Louie Gohmert who took to the floor to debate the bill say the plan has too much spending and not enough tax cuts.
Congressman Gohmert also says Texas isn't getting a fair share of the proposed package.
Here's how the numbers break down for Texas.
Highways and bridges: $2.4 billion
Mass transit: $336 million
Wastewater treatment and sewer: $265 million
School modernization: $1.7 billion
Pell Grant: $1.9 billion
State budget aid: $5.1 billion*
Head Start: $60 million*
For a total of $11.7 billion dollars
Congressman Gohmert also tells us he did have a chance to speak to the President about his idea for a two month tax holiday.
He hopes to hear back from the administration.
