Tyler, TX (KETK) — Remember back when George W. Bush was president and the 5.4 percent unemployment rate was unacceptable?
Ahhh, those were the good old days.
New unemployment numbers came out today for the month of March.
The good news, and there really isn't any, the unemployment rate dropped to 7.6 percent.
The bad news is we only created 88,000 new jobs.
The reason for the conflicting numbers, more and more people are discouraged and have dropped out of the job market.
There is still a feeling of uncertainty about the country's overall financial health.
The old tax break ran out a few months ago.
A lot of folks realize something is wrong. Those who follow news know what happened.
Other low-information voters think their employers are doing something wrong or just don't care.
Zerohedge.com reports: “Things just keep getting worse for the American worker, and by implication US economy, where as we have shown many times before, it pays just as well to sit back and collect disability and various welfare and entitlement checks, than to work.”
The best manifestation of this: The number of people not in the labor force which in March, soared by a massive 663,000 to a record 90 million Americans who are no longer even looking for work.
This was the biggest monthly increase in people dropping out of the labor force since January 2012.
It's a mess. Something needs to be done. But, the president still is campaigning.
And Republicans seem to be asleep.
That's my point of view, what's yours?
