Jacksonville Tx (KETK) — When honoring our veterans, fighting to keep this country free, often times we forget to remember those they must leave behind.
Which is why April is the month of the military child, a month dedicated to honoring the kids who spend extended periods of time away from one or both of their parents.
So, in Jacksonville, the city organized a poster contest for the Jacksonville school campuses.
The contest asked for students to draw pictures of what they believed military life as a child was like.
On April 5th, military kids from Jacksonville judged the posters, picking out which ones they believed to be the best.
On April 12th, the posters will be displayed at ETMC Jacksonville, and the winners will be announced.
This is first annual contest like this held in Jacksonville, but organizers hope it will last for years to come.
