Longview — Part of the political machine responsible for Barack Obama’s re-election made a stop Sunday in Longview as part of a movement to paint Texas’ political landscape blue — a feat some in the group believe will happen by 2030.
Jenn Brown, executive director for Battleground Texas, said she is unsure of the date, but she said her group is in the state, “for as long as it takes.”
More than 60 people gathered at New Jerusalem Baptist Church to listen to Brown pitch her group’s plan to turn the state into a political trophy for Democrats in future elections.
For now, the group’s main focus is to make Texas a battleground state. Texas is a prime piece of political real estate with 38 electoral votes that have been claimed by GOP candidates for the past 20 years.
