Longview — As the federal income tax filing deadline nears, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program run by the Greater Longview United Way is expanding its hours.
The free program will be open from 6 to 8:30 p.m. today through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday and from 6 p.m. to midnight on Monday, April 15, said Phyllis Collins, Finance/Community Investment Director for the nonprofit agency.
“We’re really pleading with people to come in one evening this week, rather than waiting until Saturday or Monday,” Collins said. “We want to help as many people as we can, but we’ll be limited as to the number we can help during those last couple of days.”
