Waco, TX (KETK) — The Baylor Lady Bears basketball season may have come to a very unexpected end, but that doesn't stop Brittney Griner from racking up accolades.
The 6'8" powerhouse can now add two-time Wade Trophy winner to her list of accomplishments.
The State Farm Wade Trophy, also known as the "Heisman of Women's Basketball," is awarded to the best women's basketball player in Division I NCAA play. Griner has now earned that honor twice.
She has also been named the 2013 WBCA National Defensive Player of the Year presented by United States Marine Corps.
Other awards Griner earned this year are as follows:
Naismith Player of the Year
AP Player of the Year ( Second straight year, only third player in history to do so)
USWBA Anne Meyersdale-Drysdale Player of the Year
WBCA Defensive Player of the Year
According to ESPN Central Texas , three times, Griner has been named an All-American by the WBCA, AP, USBWA and received the Wooden Award and is a three-time WBCA Defensive Player of the Year.
Griner was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Big XII Championship, Big XII Player of the Year and Big XII Defensive Player of the Year.
