Longview — The U.S. Department of Education confirmed Tuesday its Office of Civil Rights is investigating a complaint filed against Longview ISD accusing the district of discriminating against female athletes and students at the high school.
LISD officials remained mum a second day after federal agents descended on the campus Monday to interview faculty and student athletes.
Complainant and former girls soccer coach Chris Yoder said Monday that about 250 students had been interviewed as part of the probe. The investigation arose from Yoder’s complaint under Title IX, the national law governing gender equality in athletics and academics.
