Kilgore, TX (Kilgore College) — This Saturday’s softball doubleheader in Kilgore pitting the Rangers versus Bossier Parish Community College will be featured as “StrikeOut Cancer” games to raise money for the American Cancer Society.
The StrikeOut Cancer event is an initiative between the American Cancer Society and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association to raise awareness and funds to fight cancer.
KC is looking for donors to pledge $50 for each strikeout that KC pitchers throw during the doubleheader, set for 1 and 3 p.m. at Stream-Flo Field.
There will also be a raffle of pink softballs autographed by this year’s team, and special t-shirts will be for sale at the games.
Shirts will be $15 ($2 more per size over a large).
During pre-game ceremonies, KC will honor softball players’ family members, as well as KC employees, who have fought, or are fighting cancer.
Since starting the StrikeOut Cancer initiative more than 10 years ago, NFCA membership teams have raised tens of thousands of dollars to support the fight against cancer.
In addition to financial support, this initiative has provided a platform to raise awareness for breast cancer as well as support for women's cancer research.
