Longview — The Humane Society of Northeast Texas said Monday it has a new executive director.
Scott Holloway has joined the Longview-based nonprofit, said Humane Society board President Susan Mazarakes-Gill. Most recently, Holloway was director of a South Carolina animal shelter.
“I plan to provide leadership, expertise and knowledge that will enable us to grow with the community and improve the human-animal bond,” Holloway said.
The hire comes after what Mazarakes-Gill called a turnaround at the embattled shelter, which last fall gave notice it would cease operating as an open admission facility after September 2014. After that date, it said, it would accept animals only at its discretion and no longer contract with local governments for its services. Longview and Gregg County both use the shelter’s services.
