Kilgore — The days are gone when the library was the place to be on the Saturday before a research paper was due, so Saturday hours are going the way of the dodo bird at the Kilgore Public Library.
“In the past, Saturday was a very popular day,” library Director Linda Johnson said, recalling high school and college students working on reports in the only local site where they could find a world of information. “That no longer is happening.”
Scholars who once pored through encyclopedias and obscure reference books now find answers in computers that fit in their palm, Johnson told city council members Tuesday.
