Longview — After a Longview murder suspect with prior convictions for attempted murder, aggravated assault and attempted kidnapping posted bail two days after witnesses said he shot and killed an unarmed man, the Gregg County District Attorney’s Office asked a judge to increase the amount of the bond or add conditions to the release.
Judge Alfonso Charles set the initial bond at $175,000 for Cedric Bernard Carldwell, 43, after Carldwell was arrested and charged in the April 14 shooting death of Huey Lee “Bull” Gray.
Witnesses told investigators Carldwell shot Gray, 63, six to eight times after the two men argued.
Carldwell’s release has left Gray’s family in shock and fearful of what he is capable of doing.
