Longview, TX (Longview News-Journal) — The Board of Trustees for Spring Hill Independent School District on Monday named Mark Sartain as the new athletic director/head football coach and Kathy Parker as the new junior high principal.
The board unanimously approved the candidates.
Parker is the assistant principal at James S. Hogg Middle School in Tyler.
David Reed, the junior high principal, announced his retirement earlier this year. Reed, 58, has been with the district for 27 years and has been the junior high principal for 16 years.
“I have been blessed in many ways during my 27 years at Spring Hill,” Reed said. “I have worked with some amazing people and Spring Hill has some of the best students you’ll find anywhere.”
Prior to becoming principal, he was a science teacher and coach at both the high school and junior high.
Superintendent Wes Jones said he believes Parker will be an asset to the district.
“Kathy Parker will help us in many areas that we plan to implement over the next year and into the future,” Jones said.
