CNN — It's Cinco De Mayo a day of celebration for people across the United States and parts of Mexico.
Singing, dancing, margaritas, and guacamole are just some of the traditions used to mark the fifth day of may.
But contrary to belief today is not Mexican Independence Day which is celebrated on September 16.
Cinco De Mayo commemorates the Mexican victory over the french in the Battle of Puebla in 1862.
Mexicans don't really celebrate the holiday either, except in the Puebla state where the battle occurred.
