Álvarez was killed shortly after being appointed to a new government job
Houston — The Houston Chronicle is reporting; Jose De Jesús Gallegos Álvarez, the assassinated Mexican state tourism secretary who until March lived in a mansion near The Woodlands, was allegedly ordered killed by Mexican cartel bosses because of his alleged economic support for rival drug traffickers, according to a statement by the Jalisco state prosecutor.
