AUSTIN, TX (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — An 18 year-old high school senior, on his first alligator hunt, has bagged the largest alligator to be certified in the State of Texas.
Braxton Bielski and his father, Troy Bielski, had applied for a alligator permit issued through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for a public hunting program on the Daughtrey Wildlife Management Area.
The permit allows the public to hunt and harvest alligators and a variety of game on the Choke Canyon Reservoir inside the Daughtrey Wildlife boundary.
The alligator Braxton had killed weighed 800 pounds and was 14 feet 3 inches in length and is estimated to be 30-50 years-old.
The Bielski's used bait lines to hook the alligator and then Braxton used a firearm to kill the gator.
