Tyler,TX — East Texas has two rodeos this week. The Lindale Rodeo starts on Thursday.
Wednesday night at 7 p.m., Jacksonville kicked off their annual rodeo.
The 'Tops in Texas Rodeo' is from May 15th-18th.
"It's going to be real special because man I tell you what.. There's nothing like a Jacksonville Tops in Texas Rodeo, so many stars and so many people it has gotten famous by being on this rodeo deal here."," says Shamrock Clever, of Jacksonville.
It's a Jacksonville tradition that has been entertaining East Texans for many years.
The Jacksonville Rodeo Association tells KETK,
"It's the 51st Annual, that says a lot, you know for 51 years we've had this rodeo and it means so much to Jacksonville," says Byron Underwood, President of Jacksonville Rodeo Association.
The rodeo will be at 7:00 each night through Saturday.
Featuring saddle bronc riding, bull riding, steer wrestling, calf roping, bareback riding, barrel racing, team roping and mutton bustin' every night.
On Thursday, it's kids day in the park and 'Tough to Wear Pink', and Saturday morning there will be a Junior Rodeo.
"The Tops in Texas Rodeo started back when I was a very young girl, like I say... my heart was so grand for the rodeo every summer," says Debbie Dyess, Director of 'Bull Bash' in Jacksonville.
Which inspired Debbie Dyess of Jacksonville to host her own rodeo, the 'Bull Bash'.
"We get a lot of pleasure out of the fact that it has been this successful and continues through this period if time, and of course everything that comes out of this rodeo goes to charity," says Roland Adams, Ticket Sales, Board of Directors of the Jacksonville Rodeo Association.
"Cowboys and cowgirls from all over the country, we will have eight world champions that will be here tonight," says Byron Underwood, President of Rodeo Association.
