Longview — Members of a Longview board agreed Wednesday to add the extension of Fourth Street north of Hawkins Parkway to the city’s master plan despite a warning from a landowner that he may work to block the project.
Richard Henson, who pitched the street project in the fall, told Longview Metropolitan Planning Organization Policy Board members he does not intend to sell his property to allow the street to pass through unless he and an adjoining landowner can reach an agreement about the stretch of land.
“I am the one that originally brought this (idea) to the city for the Fourth Street extension, and had the property under contract with Gary VanDusen,” Henson said at the board’s meeting. “Gary VanDusen basically pulled the rug out from under me on this deal, so I bought the road frontage on Hawkins.”
