Tyler , TX (KETK) — Those born between the years of 1980 and 2000 are known as the millennial generation, or the me me me generation.
This generation is thought of, research says, as self -absorbed, social media obsessed, impatient but ambitious.
There are 80 million Americans who fall into the millennial generation.
Reports say the millennial generation is the largest and most important generation since the baby boomers.
"Baby boomers are accustomed to longer speeches, longer conversations sustained reading, where the younger generation is more accustomed to multi-tasking," said UT Tyler Department Chair of Communication Dennis Cali.
This generation is thought to be self absorbed and a little too confident.
"I feel like back in the day they took life more seriously we just want to party and you know have fun and we're not as serious as they are," said 22-year-old Janet Ayodeji.
And a generation who dismisses traditional values.
"The baby boomers are work work work and now there is this generation where we walk into a business and we're expecting to get our vacation in a couple months when the baby boomers say we had to wait two years before we got our week vacation and you've been here two months why are you asking," said 22-year-old Bridget Marrs.
Reports state more than 25% of millennials don't have a religion making them the least religious generation in American history.
75% of millennials are tech savvy, and are adapting well to a fast changing technological world.
"We're self absorbed into our phones so it looks like we're me me me but I think in actuality if you take away are phones we really aren't me me me," 20-year-old said Justin McFarland.
" I just like to think our generation won't be so bad off and we're actually doing better than what we get credit for." said 24 year-old Joshua Grijalvi.
