(KETK) — Two Smith County deputies thwarted an ATM theft at a convenience store in Flint early Monday morning.
It happened on the 19000 block of U.S. Hwy 69 South, near Walnut Hill Dr. just before 3:00 a.m.
The deputies happened to be in the area when they noticed a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of the gas station after hours.
When they pulled into the parking lot, they saw a man dart away from the store.
They noticed that the door was open, and the ATM was in the middle of the parking lot.
The thief's vehicle is believed to be a red pick-up truck.
Authorities are not sure at this time whether anything was taken from the store.
The deputies arrived at the scene at 2:53 a.m., just after the initial alarm call came in at 2:51 a.m.
