Arlington, Tx (Texas Rangers Media Release) — The Texas Rangers announced prior to today’s game that the club has purchased the contract of right-handed pitcher Ross Wolf (#55) from Triple-A Round Rock. To make room for Wolf on the active roster, the team has optioned right-handed pitcher Cory Burns to Round Rock.
Wolf, 30, will be making his Rangers debut and first career big league start in today’s series finale with Oakland. He has gone a combined 1-2 with a 2.02 ERA (8 ER/35.2 IP) in 7 games/6 starts with Frisco (AA) and Round Rock (AAA). He began the year with one relief appearance for Frisco before he was promoted on April 9 and placed in the Express rotation. He held Pacific Coast League hitters to a .223 (27-121) average.
