Tyler, TX (KETK) — Let’s start at the beginning.
There are two basic types of handgun.
The revolver is a mid-19th century design whose ammunition capacity is limited by the cylinder.
The semi-automatic is a more modern design that can, in some models, hold many more rounds depending on the model and magazine.
And if you want a concealed handgun license, the kind of gun you use makes a difference.
If you qualify with a revolver, that’s all you can carry.
If you use a semi-automatic, you can carry either gun.
But, not now.
The legislature has just removed the distinction so that even if you earn your license with a revolver, it doesn’t limit what you can carry.
Tagged onto this bill is an amendment that forbids localities from prohibiting the ownership of an air rifle.
So now, Ralphie can get his Red Ryder and you can qualify with either type of handgun.
