Lindale, TX (KETK) — The Lindale High School Student Council has been honored with six outstanding achievement awards by the Texas Association of Student Councils, sponsored by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals.
The LHS Student Council received the 2012-2013 Outstanding Student Council Award, DASH (Drugs, Alcohols, Safety and Health) Award, Energy and Environment Award, Pride and Patriotism Award, Community Service Award and the Sweepstakes Award.
The TASC outstanding achievement awards are given to Texas student councils who have displayed exemplary skills in leadership, service and activities that serve to improve their school and community.
The Sweepstakes Award is only given to the exceptional student council that receives each of the five achievement awards.
The TASC has 1,300 members and LHS is one of only 230 councils to earn the highly-esteemed Sweepstakes Award.
“The Lindale High School Student Council is a vital part of student involvement and volunteerism not just on our campus but throughout the Lindale community,” Lindale High School Principal Casey Neal said. “I commend the students who participate in the organization and can say the recognition from the Texas Association of Student Councils is well-deserved.”
The 2012-2013 co-presidents of the LHS Student Council are Kyle Holder and Fate Richey. Other officers are: Veronica Churchill, Nathan Evans, Austin Drawbond, Kristen Widner, Courtney Johnson and Emma Skelton.
