Tyler, TX — On Thursday morning the West Side Elementary School's auditorium was packed for the end of the school year award ceremony.
All camera were waiting to capture city official's honor Ruby Castillo with hero own special "Ruby Castillo Day". This third grader was honored after she generously donated her sack lunch to those effected by the deadly tornado in Moore, Oklahoma.
Residents of Jacksonville hope to encourage more acts of kindness like Ruby's with a new citizen of the month program.
Event organizer Billy Bateman says, "Each month now we will recognize a citizen or employee or adult in Jacksonville that has gone above and beyond somebody and sets an example just like Ruby did. They have formed this new certificate as you could call it and you can call the Chamber of Commerce and nominate someone in the community."
