Longview, TX (Longview News-Journal) —
Set to become just the fourth volleyball coach in Pine Tree history, Carolee Musick will take the helm with high expectations.
Expectations, she said, that she is ready to face in her new position.
Expectations that come with the territory when you have a state championship, six state tournament appearances and an .830 career winning percentage.
“When you’ve won a lot in your career, as I have been fortunate enough to do, the high expectations follow you everywhere you go,” Musick said. “It doesn’t matter if I stayed at White Oak or anywhere I went, the high expectations would have followed.
“It’s something that you can’t be afraid of and something you have to meet at the door.”
After 19 seasons at White Oak – a stretch that includes a 254-16 record, a 2A state title and 40-plus win seasons over the past six years – Musick is set to become the girls athletic coordinator/head volleyball coach at Pine Tree, filling a vacancy left after former coach Leven Barker took the same position at Carthage this past month.
