Tyler, Tx (KETK) — Tyler Junior College Sophomore Jacob French and Freshman Anthony Soriano have been awarded 2013 NJCAA All-American honors.
French, a right handed pitcher from Kingwood, TX, was named to the Second Team All-American list boasting a 1.99 ERA with a record of 9-3, 2 saves, and 69 strikeouts.
Soriano, an outfielder from Flower Mound, TX, was named to the Third Team All-American list led the Apaches with 62 hits, 45 singles, and 14 doubles in route to a .339 batting average for the year.
Tyler Junior College’s Freshman First Baseman Eric Stegent (Brenham, TX) also earned a Rawlings Gold Golve award.
He had a fielding percentage of .995 in 42 games played for the Apaches during the 2013 season.
Stegent becomes the fourth Apache and first TJC freshman to earn this award. Stegent joins the ranks of Former Apaches Cody Ellerbee (2012), Josh Bates (2010), and Jose Molina (2007) and also becomes the first TJC Freshman to win the Gold Glove Award®.
