Longview — Longview’s animal shelter — facing a flood of animals — is recovering from a rash of canine sickness, and some people who adopted dogs believe the disease is worse and more widespread than the shelter has said.
Scott Holloway, executive director of the Humane Society of Northeast Texas, said when he came to Longview in May, he stumbled into an area-wide epidemic of canine influenza, which is a contagious viral infection that causes lung problems.
