Nacogdoches, TX (KETK) — A Nacogdoches High School graduate is returning home to take the top leadership position at his alma mater.
The NISD board of trustees approved hiring Kenneth Wooten as NHS principal on Thursday night.
“We are excited to have Mr. Wooten join the NISD team,” said NISD Superintendent Fred Hayes. “He will serve as a strong leader and continue the tradition of excellence for Nacogdoches High School.”
Wooten, a 19-year educator, comes to NISD from Brownsboro High School where he has served as principal since 2007. He received both his master’s degree in educational leadership in 2005 and bachelor’s degree in kinesiology in 1993 from Stephen F. Austin State University.
Wooten’s other education roles have included assistant principal of Van High School from 2004-07; health teacher and assistant coach at Van High School from 2002-04; government, economics and physical education teacher at Brownsboro High School from 1998-2002; world history teacher and coach at Nolan Catholic High School from 1997-98; U.S. history teacher and coach at Brownsboro High School from 1994-97; and U.S. history teacher and coach for Rice Consolidated High School.
