(KETK) Alto Tx — Monday night, the Alto City Council held a meeting to discuss the discontinueing of ETMC Emergency Medical Services to South Cherokee County.
ETMC EMS General Manager Neal Franklin addressed the city council, telling them, by July 15th, the ETMC truck for that area will be leaving.
In order the serve this area, which includes Alto, Wells, and rural parts of South Cherokee County, area leaders will have to decide if they want to pay for sub-contracting another, independent company to provide emergency transport.
Franklin says, he understands this is a difficult situation for everyone involved, but because of monetary limitations, it has to be done.
According to Franklin, around 190-thousand dollars a year.
But ETMC has offered to pay 100-thousand dollars of that amount, with the other 90 coming from people in wells, alto, and the surrounding area.
The city of Wells plans to have a meeting on July 8th, with Alto, tentatively scheduled to have another meeting about this the day after.
