(KETK) - Tyler Tx — The Tyler Museum of Art is ready for a positive change.
And new Executive Director, Christopher Leahy, is excited to take on the challenge.
"Now's the chance for me to to do something where I can bring that experience there and really do something good," Leahy said. "I'm looking forward to it."
Board of Trustees President Verna Hall says the museum is thrilled to have Leahy on board.
"When we interviewed Chris it was very obvious to us that he was the person for the job," Hall said.
She believes he will add to their already popular programs and exhibits.
"He's the kind of person who will want to involve the entire community as much as possible in our programs and hopefully encourage everybody to come to the museum," Hall said.
She said there will be something for everyone.
"We know that not everything appeals to everybody so we're hoping to bring something new, something different to a lot of people," Hall said.
Leahy has more than 30 years of leadership and management experience.
He also spent 21 years as an Officer in the U.S.. Army.
Leahy says he's aiming to encompass all ages and draw a larger audience to the museum.
His main target right now is "the young workers because they will be the donors of the future."
"Chris has got in his mind that he wants to make the Tyler museum of art the place to be in town," said Jon Perry, the Communications Coordinator at the Tyler Museum of Art.
