(KETK) Henderson Tx — The Henderson City Council approved a work order Tuesday night, concerning sidewalk construction on main street in the downtown area.
This is just one of many examples of ways the city is working to make the area thrive.
The city has already partnered with TX-Dot and SWEPCO to repave the downtown streets, as well as remove many of the power line poles that blocked views of the area.
Along with new sidewalks, there is a clear mission to make the area as pedestrian friendly as possible, and in so doing, bringing in more money to the businesses on main street.
According to city manager Mike Barrow, when work does begin on the new sidewalks, they will just being adding on to the existing sidewalks, so business owners will not have to worry about torn up cement in front of their buildings.
