Henderson County, Texas (KETK) — Henderson County Child Welfare Board will be holding a storage cleanup day.
When a child is taken into foster care they sometimes are not able to take their belongings with them. If they are able to take anything it is placed into storage. Many foster communities are very specific in what can be taken in and out with the children.
The Henderson County Welfare Board has taken the responsibility of paying for the storage buildings. Over the past few years, the building has become more and more filled with items belonging to Henderson County children that were in foster care.
Last Saturday, the board began cleaning out an entire storage unit, organizing, sorting the items and placing them in large plastic totes.
The totes will weather the years better as some of the belongings will be in storage for over a decade. The totes give the children a safe container for their belongings they can get when they get out of foster care.
