Mineola, Tx (KETK) — In June, we introduced you to a little East Texas bakery that was going to be on national television.
The Luscious Crumb of Mineola was featured on The Food Network's "Cupcake Wars" June 30, and lo and behold ... they ending up winning.
"When they were making the announcement (on the show), I held my breath for like 90 seconds waiting," said Luscious Crumb owner Dawn Trammell. "Now that we can tell people we've won, we're just very excited."
Trammell and daughter Rachel Pantusa had to keep tight-lipped about the results for months.
When the episode finally aired, the town gathered together to watch it.
"It was awesome to have all of Mineola watch it with us," said Pantusa. "That's the first time we got to see it as well."
For winning, the bakery gets $10,000 and had the chance to cater a Hollywood party.
So what's next for the bakery?
"We are planning on expanding," Trammell said. "We want to open four more locations."
Some might say it's proof their cup-sized cakes really are as luscious as the name suggests.
"This morning, we've had the phone ringing off the hook," Trammell said. "We've had all kinds of phone calls, some from people who didn't know we were here."
Trammell says she hopes their first new location will be in Tyler, hopefully within the next year.
