Tyler, Texas (KETK) —
Tyler Investigators have arrested a suspect in the murder of Rodney Walker  who was shot in his home on Monday.
The suspect has been identified as Christopher Shane Wiley, 39, of Tyler.
According to the Tyler Police Department, the shooting occured around 3:00 a.m., on Monday along East First Street.
When officers arrived they found Walker dead after suffering from an apparent gun shot wound.
Wiley is charged with First Degree Murder and was formally arrested in the hospital where he remains under protective custody.
According to officials, Wiley is in the hospital for attempting suicide after the murder of Walker.
Judge Kennedy signed the arrest warrant and set Wiley’s bond at $500,000.
Wiley will remain under protective custody until he is released from the hospital and transported to Smith County Jail.
