Tyler, TX (KETK) — There's only two times a year you can get them, and now is one of them.
Fireworks stands are all over East Texas right now.
The clock is ticking to get yours before July 4.
Gailon Spears runs Fantastic Fireworks stand on US 271 and Loop 323 in Smith County.
"I'm here 24 hours a day," Spears said. "I have to spend the night. I spend the night with my dog."
Spears gave us the lowdown on his best sellers.
"Water crackers sell," he said. "I don't know what the kids do with them, but they love them."
If you're looking for the "big boy" bangs, try the "Loyal to None."
$45 gives you 33 shots in a row.
"It's five-hundred grams, which is by law the highest we can sell unless you get a pyrotechnics expert," Spears said.
Some new items this season: The "Joe Six Pack," which is nine shots, and the "Armed and Ready."
"It's a 3-inch mortar shell, 33 millimeters," Spears said. "Its about $70. This is the loudest, biggest bang for buck."
The "big finale type" show-stoppers sell out fast.
Wednesday morning, Spears only had one of those left.
Also new this year: neon sparklers.
If you follow Fantastic Fireworks Facebook page, they have a daily deal through July 4.
You just have to mention you saw it there.
If you live within city limits, remember the only things you are permitted to set off are noise makers, smoke bombs and other novelty items you could find at your local store.
Anything that has 1.4G or 1.3G printed on the box is not permitted.
Those are the kind you find at most fireworks stands.
The Tyler Fire Department tells us the fine for setting off fireworks without a permit is between $200 and $2,000.
Tyler permitted fireworks displays:
July 4, 9:15 p.m.
Willowbrook Country Club
3205 W. Erwin
July 4, 9 p.m.
Hollytree Country Club
6700 Holly Tree Dr.
July 4, 9 p.m.
