Longview, TX (Longview News-Journal) — Longview’s Parks and Recreation Advisory Board on Monday will consider the final plans for a new disc golf course and a request to beautify property near the intersection of Texas 31 and Spur 63.
City officials hope both projects will draw visitors to Longview by providing a venue for well-attended disc golf tournaments and by expanding an outdoor entertainment district along with the Longview Arboretum and mountain bike trail.
At the noon meeting, board members may green-light a proposed 18-hole, advanced disc golf course at Hinsley Park that would run through the wooded area just north of Hawkins Parkway.
Hayden Henry, a News-Journal sports writer who has led the effort for the disc golf course, said he hopes it will draw regular visits and tournaments.
