Tyler, Texas — On Saturday hundreds gathered at the Gregg County Courthouse for the Longview Chapter tea party, We the People's rally, "Don't Tread On Me".
Speakers included some of the top conservative figures in Texas politics such as Austin Lux, as well as State Representatives Bryan Hughes and David Simpson.
Speakers addressed issues such as abortion and the national debt crisis.
State Representative David Simpson, Republican of Longview, says, "This is a great opportunity for the people to gather to make speeches about what's made our nation great, our Declaration of Independence and what we've done to preserve it. We also talked about how we've lost our independence in many ways."
East Texas residents were excited to have their voice be heard as well. Isaac Lennie of Longview says, "We've got to protest this overreaching government. The government is out of control the spending is out of control."
