Longview — The old stadium was built in 1955.
This new stadium will be worth the wait.
Pine Tree's new $17 million stadium will be ready next month in time for the new football season.
KETK Sports Director Danny Elzner talked with Pine Tree coach Derek Fitzhenry.
Coach Fitzhenry is excited about his program's new 65-hundred seat stadium.
"It's a big source of pride for everyone here," Fitzhenry said. "The kids are really excited about it, not only the football players, track and soccer, but that's where we'll have our high school graduation. It's a big deal for all the kids."
We expect to have a really good football team this year," Fitzhenry aadded. "We've got a quarterback that's being recruited nationally, Caleb Chumley, and we've got a lot of returning starters that got a lot of experience last year. Our first game of the season will be played in that new stadium. It'll be the opening of it. It should create some excitement."
