(KETK) - Tyler Tx — "Women do not have the right to kill unborn babies," said Yvette Campbell.
A group of East Texans gathered Tuesday morning to support the new abortion legislation.
They met at T-K Gorman's Chapel before departing in six buses for the capitol around 7:40 a.m. Tuesday.
"I think the babies need a voice," said Caroline Laine. "We just need to be heard."
If the bill were to pass, it would ban abortions after 20 weeks and require clinics to upgrade their facilities.
As of right now, only five out of the 42 clinics in Texas would qualify under the new restrictions.
Meaning 37 clinics would be shut down here in the lone star state.
Mary Schuricht is happy to be traveling to the capitol in support of the bill.
"I think it's really sad that mothers would want to kill their own babies and i think all babies should have a chance to live," Schuricht said.
